Antonio was born on June 13, 1941, in Picacho, New Mexico to Porfirio Frésquez and María Sedillo Frésquez.
Known lovingly to many as Tony, Anthony is the youngest of eleven and he was preceded in passing by his siblings, Alvino Frésquez, Chris Frésquez, Eleverto Frésquez, Lucille Laws, Orfila Ramírez, and Orlando Frésquez.
Antonio is survived by his sisters, Effie Chávez of Albuquerque, NM, Gloria Mendiola (Peter) of Roswell, NM, Linda Yrisarri of Humble, TX and Prestina Sánchez-Davis of Albuquerque, NM. Also, by his devoted partner in life of 22 years, Geraldine "Gerri" Candelaria, of Rio Rancho, NM, daughter, Stephanie "Stevie" Frésquez, of Mesa, AZ, son, Greg Anthony Frésquez (Lissa), his grandchildren, Samantha Marie, and Jack Anthony of Phoenix, AZ and many loving nieces and nephews.
Antonio and Gerri loved nature, camping in the outdoors and they travelled extensively together. Antonio especially enjoyed connecting everyone to his family's farm and ranch in Picacho, NM where he and his siblings were born and raised.
Anthony served his country in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966. Ever the Good Samaritan, Anthony was recognized by the Governor of New Mexico in 1968 for his actions which resulted in the rescue of multiple motorists who were stranded for several days in high snow drifts near Vaughn, NM.
Antonio was technically inclined, a skill which he used to help others at every opportunity. After a career as a technical specialist at Xerox Corporation, he became a certified soldering instructor and worked for a U.S. Naval contractor. Antonio was recognized with numerous awards at Xerox as well as several from Toastmasters for his leadership skills. Antonio served in his neighborhood safety council and volunteered at his church.
When his first grandchild was born, he planted a tree and named it "The Sammy Tree," which flourishes with his love 24 years later.
The funeral Mass will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. It will be followed by a gathering to celebrate memories of his life at the clubhouse at 3938 Peggy Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. His burial, for immediate family, will take place at Santa Fé National Cemetery in Santa Fé, NM with military honors on May 5, 2021.
