In Memory of Mary White. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin & Thurza Melvina [Golightly] White. It is believed she is buried at the Oakland Cemetery. However, we have no records of her death, or burial site to verify.

She was a twin to her brother Robert H White.

She married William E Adair, on Aug 18, 1851, in Harris County Georgia. Only one known child came from this union, Mary W White. Not much is known of Mr Adair, he has been listed as Col Adair, and said to have been a prominent lawyer in Alabama, and by 1860 he may have died, as he is not on the census. Mary and her daughter, are now living with her parents.

**Mary died after the after the 1880 & before the 1900 Census**

1850-Mary appears on the 1850 Census at 19 yrs old, Hamilton Harris Co GA.
1860-Mary has moved back with her father's household and now listed as
--------M C Adair 28yrs old, with her daughter Mary Willa Adaire b.1852, thus
--------it appears her husband had passed away possibly in Alabama.
1870-Mary now 39, and daughter Mary W 18 at still living in the household
--------of her father.
1880 - See Census records at bottom of page.

MRS. CARRIE ADAIR

The wife of Col. Adair was a daughter of B. F. White. She was married to Col. Wm. Adair, a prominent and influential lawyer of the State of Alabama. She has been dead several years and is buried in the city of Atlanta in the family burying ground. She was the mother of one child, a daughter, who is also buried by the side of her mother. Mrs. Adair was well versed in music -- took lessons from her father for a long time -- she was a fine singer and was no less in devotion, and in the advocacy of the cause of vocal music, than that of her father, mother, brothers and sisters.' She was a strict member of the Baptist Church and believed in the atonement made by her Lord and Master. She died with a Christian hope of eternal salvation. She was noted for her performing on the instrument, and was a gifted musician and taught instrumental music.
