Robert married Mary L "Mollie" Mann, Jul 24th, 1853, Spalding Co GA. She was the daughter of John J & Mary R [Harper] Mann, of Griffin Spalding Co GA. Robert & Mary had 3 known children; Walter, Thomas and Anna "Annie" White.
His wife Mary was buried with her family members, at Jonesboro City Cemetery, Clayton Co GA, where her sisters Harriett & Nancy are laid to rest, and also numerous Nieces, and Nephews.
Robert enlisted in the Confederate Army, 1861, in Griffin, Spalding Co GA. Pvt Co. I, 13th Georgia Infantry Regiment (Stark's Volunteers). They were a well respected unit, and fought in many of the major battles of the Civil War. In the records of the 13th Ga Inf., Robert was captured at Petersburg, Virginia April 3, 1865. Released at Hart's Island, New York Harbor June 15, 1865.
