========================================

He was the only one of his siblings to venture out of the nest in Georgia. He had many White relatives, already living in East Texas, Bowie County to Smith Co, Houston Co (not to be confused with Houston Harris Co TX) and Walker, Kaufman Co TX and others.

Some of our relatives in Bowie Co TX, were also involved in the Sacred Harp gatherings,

not just the White's...

I can just imagine, some came together for a gathering, every now and then, music permeated the White family. It all started with number one "Robert White Sr 1743-1843", who passed the fun of music down, to his children and grand children, and influenced many others.

It caught fire with David's father BF White, who took the sacred harp style of music to new heights. His father served has a Fife in the War of 1812, and a Captain in the Militia in Spartanburg Co SC, a Major in the Militia, in Hamilton Harris County Georgia, during the Civil War.

David was a Farmer as well as musically inclined, and active in affairs, in the counties he had lived, a trait that ran through his whole family. His father wrote the book, "Sacred Harp", a four note style of music, practiced throughout the south, and even today, all over the United States. BF White with Mr King published, this song book.

David contributed songs to his fathers book. All of his siblings and many of their children, continued the family tradition, of the Sacred Harp style of music.

David was born in Union County South Carolina, they first moved to Spartanburg County SC, and in 1842, His father left SC, and moved to Hamilton Harris County, GA. He was 21 years old and on the 1850 census, listed as a music teacher.

David next moved to Henry Co Alabama, where he again in, 1860 is listed as a School Teacher, I am sure of music.

By 1870 David and Celeste, are now living in Livingston Polk Co Texas. Listed as a Farmer. They may have arrived in Polk County before the Civil War, he may have served in one of the 2 Regiments from this county, the 1st or 5th Texas Infantry Regiments.

Sometime after 1870, they are now living in Cherokee County Texas, where David and Celeste lived out their final years.

Civil War Service:

1st Sgt, Co C, (Capt Millican's Co), 2nd Infantry Battalion Waul's Texas Legion.

David enlisted June 13, 1862 Polk Co TX, 33yrs old, at Camp Waul, in Capt Millican Company. His rank went from Pvt to 1st, 2nd, 3rd Sgt.

David was captured, at Yazoo City MS, prior to his paroled date of May 21, 1863. On the form he was described as 5ft-8" tall, Hazel eyes, brown hair, and was born Spartanburg Co SC. his Nativity was South Carolina, Married, county of residence, Polk Co TX.
