ALBERTA COLE PIERCE KNOW FOR HER KNITTING, CROCHETING, BAKING
Alberta Cole Pierce, 76, of Alfred Road, died Monday at Riverridge Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in Dyer Brook, a daughter of Fred and Grace Gerrish Cole and attended Kennebunk schools.
Mrs. Pierce was employed by the former Rogers Fiber of Kennebunk until the company closed. She then worked for Leach's Nursing Home for several years.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She made towels for family and friends and was known for her molasses cookies.
Surviving are two sons, William Cole of Biddeford and John Cole of Limerick; five daughters, Bernice Ladd and Helen Ladd, both of Arizona, Kathy Slowik and Alyce Bramblett, both of Kennebunk and Barbara St. Pierre of Lyman; three brothers, Charles F. Cole and David R. Cole, both of Kennebunk, and Stanley W. Cole of Iowa; five sisters, Katherine R. Ames, Laura E. Palmer and Fannie E. Webber, all of Kennebunk, Iva H. Dowd of Havertown, Pa., and Effie M. Patch of Farmington, N.H.; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel with the Rev. Robert Cole officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
