Elizabeth "Liz" Hobby Atwood, had her birthday into Heaven on October 11, 2011. She was born July 8, 1929 in North Little Rock, Ark. to Elmer and Addie Hobby, both of whom preceded her in death. Liz was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wayne Atwood in 1992 and her siblings: Troy, Roy and Marvin (Buddy) Hobby and Marguerite Manire. She grew up in the North Little Rock area and graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1948. She married Thomas Wayne Atwood on Feb. 22, 1950 and in 1965, they moved to Mesquite, Texas when his work at Philco required him to transfer from Arkansas. She was a devoted wife and mother who took excellent care of their children and after they grew up, she began working at Sears for many years. After her husband passed away, Liz moved to the College Mound area in 1993 where she became a very active member at College Mound UMC. Always looking to serve, she will be remembered for her ability to help others when ever called upon by any person in need. Liz was a great cook and she was very well known for her desserts. Her beautiful smile is a treasured memory for all who knew her.

Liz is survived by her children: Jerry Atwood and wife, Gail, of Pensacola, Fla.; Tom Atwood and wife, Cathy, of College Mound, Texas; Dr. Larry Atwood and wife, Gina, of Boston, Mass.; and Lisa Davies and husband, Jack, of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: Margaret Drake, Michael Drake, Mallory Luttrell and husband, Jason, and PFC Jordan Barnes; brothers: Elmer Hugh Hobby, Jr. and RB Hobby; sister-in-law, Margie Delozier; her beloved Pekingese dog, Maggie as well as several other nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends who loved her and will miss her greatly.
