Obituary: Republican City, Nebraska, May 22, 1908 -
After an illness extending over a period of several weeks, Mrs. John M. Ryun passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sarah E. Williams, southeast of this city, last Thursday, May 14, aged 86 years and 4 days. The funeral services were held in the M. E. Church in Republican City Saturday and the remains were laid to rest in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Polly Clark was born in Fayette County, Ohio, May 10, 1822. She was united in marriage to John M. Ryun, July 8, 1840. In 1849, they moved to Iowa and settled in Davis County, and three years later moved to Wayne County. Here Mrs. Ryun united with the Methodist Protestant Church and was a faithful member until her death.
Deceased was the mother of ten children, six girls and four boys. Her children living are: Sarah E. Williams and B. F. and D. C. Ryun of Republican City, Mary A. Burley of New Market, Iowa, A. L. Ryun of Stratton, Colorado, W. H. Ryun of Burlington, Iowa and Ida M. Dawson of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Those who preceeded her to the world beyond were: Nancy J. Cook, Elvira Dawson and Laura D. Burley.
Her descendants numbered one hundred and fifty, ten children, seventy-three grandchildren and sixty-seven great-grandchildren. She was a good Christian woman and her friends were many.
