Services for Mrs. Ethel (Basco) Roman will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Pineville. Burial will be at the Gorum Cemetary.

Visitation will be Monday, October 17, 2011 at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until the service. Father Steven of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will lead the rosary at 7:30 Monday evening and will perform the service on Tuesday.

Ethel was 93 and passed away peacefully Saturday, October 8, 2011.

She was a native of Gorum, Louisiana and most recently lived in Pineville, Louisiana and Lockport, Illinois. Mrs. Roman was a dedicated wife, and loving mother and grandmother. She was the second oldest of fourteen brothers and sisters.

She was a long time member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a devout Catholic. She had a warm smile and kind words for everyone. She loved Louisiana as much as she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Roman; father, Jesse Basco; mother, Mary (White) Basco; brothers, Albert and Walter Basco; and sisters, Janie Setliff, Agnes Henson, Jessie V. Fontenot, Yvonne Mobley and Patricia Basco.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters: Sue Barlow of Pineville, Annette Verdino of Opelousas, and Vera May Nezat of Port Barre and husband, Stanwood; her brothers: Jay Basco of Pineville and wife, Bobbie, Frank Basco of Mora and wife, Joyce, and Alton Basco of Bunkie and wife, Mary Ann; her daughter, Dorothy Ann Kucinski, and husband, Robert Paul of Lockport, Illinois; her son, Peter, Jr. and wife, Cecelia of Lafayette; her grandchildren: Megan Hearen and husband, Stephen; Patrick Roman, Michael Roman, John Roman, Lucia Ann (Kucinski) Keener, Robert M. Kucinski, Matthew Kucinski and wife, Cynthia; Peter A Kucinski and wife, Amy; six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Pineville or to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Foundation of America, or a foundation of your own choosing.
