Joseph Gershom Stowell b. 26 Mar 1844 m. 01/04 Mar 1864 Anna E. Morse a Civil War widow and had Eugene R. Stowell 26 Feb 1866 who moved to Ellsworth, Ks and a daughter that died young.

Joseph divorced and married 28 May 1870 Louisa Hannah Pearson. They had Cappie Cranston Stowell b. 1873, Mahala Ollie Stowell 13 Jul 1874, John Cary Stowell b. 1877, and Nadine Diane Stowell b. 27 May 1883. Louisa Hannah left Joseph and the children about 1886 and went to Colorado where her brother was a very successful miner, assayer, smelter owner, broker. Her brother was Senator John Franklin Pearson who found the largest silver deposit in Colorado. Lousia Hannah Pearson married in 1887 William Washington Gill and had William, Jr., Iva, and Charles Byron Gill. William, Sr. died in Denver 1926 and Louisa Hannah died Denver 20 May 1918. William W. Gill and Louisa Hannah Pearson Gill are buried in Fairmont Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, along with her brother John Franklin Pearson and his wife, Margaret A. McKinley Pearson.

He appears in 1910 Ellsworth Federal Census as having wife named Abigail Stowell and one child Nannie Stowell. Joseph Stowell appears in 1921 Federal Report for living at Leavenworth Military home for Veterans where he probably died 1921 or after.

Joseph Gershom Stowell has three proven Mayflower lines--one to Stephen Hopkins thru his son Giles Hopkins also on the Mayflower & two lines to Thomas Rogers thru his son Joseph Rogers who was on the Mayflower. He may be a descendant of Pilgrim Henry Sampson thru his grandfather, Eliphalet Stowell. Still Researching.
