Mrs. Joseph Majeres, well-known Plymouth County woman residing north of Oyens, passed away Monday [March 6, 1944] night in the Sacred Heart Hospital, LeMars, following three years of illness. She was 52 years of age. Surviving are her sorrowing husband and three children.

Mrs. Majeres had been in failing health for three years and became a hospital patient three weeks ago, at which time her condition precluded any hopes for her recovery. The end came at 11 o'clock Monday night.

Born on a farm near Alton, July 27, 1891, she was the daughter of Anton Delperdang, now a resident of Remsen. In 1912 she married Joe F. Majeres, also a resident of this community, and to the union three children were born. The family has resided in this territory continuously.

Mrs. Majeres was a lifelong Catholic; a woman of splendid character and personality; and a devoted daughter, wife, and mother, a loyal friend to all who knew her. She was admired for her many excellent traits, and the many friends extend their condolences to the bereaved ones. Mrs. Majeres was a member of the Christian Mothers society.

The children are: Cyril, Mrs. John (Rita) Ritz, Jr., and Rose Mary, all residing in and near Remsen and Oyens.

Funeral services in St. Catherine's Church, Oyens, this (Thursday) [March 9] morning were largely attended. Burial was in St. Catherine's cemetery there. The services were conducted by the Oyens pastor, the Rev. H. B. Karhoff.
