John Cletus Thorne, 82, of Dorcas, died Jan. 7, 2003 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
Born Aug. 26, 1920, in Dorcas, he was the son of the late George Conway and Verna Mae (Mongold) Thorne.
He is survived by his wife, Ina Leota (Riggleman) Alt Thorne; two daughters, Carolyn P. Sites and Geraldine C. Alt, both of Petersburg; one stepdaughter, Yvonne Hinkle of Moorefield; one stepson, Leon L. Alt of Dorcas; two brothers, Conway C. Thorne of Falls Church, Va. and Carl J. Thorne of Dorcas; one sister, Georgia Mae Stump of Dorcas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary conducted services, Jan. 10, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg.
Funeral services were Jan. 11, at the Brake Church of the Brethren, with interment in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
