Mary was born April 28, 1921 in Dorcas, WV the daughter of the late Ray A. and Grace Elizabeth Vance Sites. She went to the Spring Run School in Dorcas, owned and operated National Service Center in South Petersburg for 20 years, and was a member of the Sites Chapel United Methodist Church in Dorcas.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Sites and husband, Estel, of Petersburg, and Geraldine Alt of Dorcas; one sister, Viola Mculty of Winchester, VA; two brothers, Norman Sites and wife, Naomi, of Winchester, VA, and Dorse Sites and wife, Retha, also of Winchester; six grandchildren; Rick Sites, Connie Adkins, Jan Dolly, Becky Hinkle, and Mike and Mark Alt, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-child.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by one brother, John "Boomer" Sites, four sisters; Bonnie Martin, Rose Russel, Arvella Combs, and Janet Carlyle, and one son-in-law, Paul Alt.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg from 6-8pm. Pastor Carl VanStavern will conduct funeral services on Sunday, June 3, 2012, 2pm at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg. Interment will follow at the Sites Cemetery in Dorcas.
