Arthur was baptised 7~24~1814
From the Bishop's Transcript of Cartmel Parish Records which includes the Church of St Paul's at Lindale England

Arthur was 15 years old when he arrived in America with his family they came from Liverpool to NY.NY. on the ship named ENVOY on 7~June~1830 to Jackson Co. Ohio. Arthur then migrated to Missouri around 1845.

He married Mickey Jane Hudspeth in Crawford Co, Mo on Monday 12~March~1849 by the Rev. S.D. Caldwell, a Minister of the Gospel. She was 18 and he was 34.

Arthur and Mickey had 8 children.

5~Cora Annis born 9 November 1861
6~John Levens born 27 July 1864

8~Clarice Isabel born 13 September 1867 Neither of these latter two daughters survived infancy.

Arthur died at his home, he was 78 years, 6 months and 10 days old.
His obituary was headlined "ANOTHER LANDMARK GONE.
Dr Metcalf came to America with his father, settled in Jackson Ohio where he studied medicine under Dr. Miller and after several years of study graduated with distinction from a Cincinnati medical college. He was a member of the noble order of Free Masons. He never refused to attend the sick and needy and to assist the poor, without money and without price, when in his power.
