From the Bishop's Transcript of Cartmel Parish Records which includes the Church of St Paul's at Lindale England

James was three years old when he sailed to America with his parents and siblings from Liverpool to NY.NY. on the ship named ENVOY 7~June~1930 and settled in Jackson Co. Ohio.

James married Margaret Ann Reed in Jackson Co, Ohio on 22~ April~1858. I HAVE A COPY OF THEIR MARRIAGE LICENSE.

They had 9 children,

3~Thomas Lincoln born 11 May 1866
4~Frank G. born in Jackson Co,Ohio on 15 January 1867
5~Anna Maria born 1868

The Civil War began in April 1861. On 27 August 1862 James along with his brother George, went to Jackson Co Ohio to voluntarily enlist to serve as a soldier of the Army of the United States. James and his brother were given the rank of Private and assigned to Company H, 27th Regiment of Ohio Volunteer Infantry[Fuller's Ohio Brigade]. James and his brother George took part in Sherman's "MARCH TO THE SEA"

James was described as having blue eyes, brown hair and a light complexion. He stood 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was a farmer by trade.
