Later that spring, Abram met Christine (Bender) and John Feath, in Chicago. They took the babies with them back to their home in New Washington, Pennsylvania. Maude remained in Pennsylvania with her aunt and uncle and received a teaching certificate at Indiana Normal Teachers College. She taught in several Pennsylvania communities and also taught for a time in Davenport, Iowa. She never married and lived to be 93 years old.
