Denton Coolidge Linton, 78, passed away Saturday, February 20, 1999 in St. George, Utah.

Born February 2, 1921 in Nephi, Utah to Luther Linton and Cirilla Valate Howarth, he was the second of ten children. Married Viola Wohlgemuth December 19, 1940 in the LDS St. George Temple. He is remembered fondly for his wisdom, wit, and charitable heart, and is honored as a brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.Abe grew up in Nephi and Kanab, Utah. He graduated from Dixie College in 1941 and from Utah State University in 1948 with a B.S. in Chemistry. His professional career spanned six decades and included employment with USU, General Electric, Thiokol Chemical Company, Spacemetals, Microcopper Corporation, Linton Engineering (Abes consulting company), and the Utah Cold Fusion Institute. At Thiokols Wasatch Division, Abe headed the Propellant Development Department and then became Director of Propellant Development for all of Thiokols Rocket Operations. He developed the first successful material used for a rocket-nozzle throat which Thiokol dubbed 'Abe-ite'. While at the Utah Cold Fusion Institute he co-authored several technical papers on cold fusion.

Abe is survived by his wife, Viola, and their five sons: Dennis and wife Cheryl, Neil, Merle and wife Leslie, Kent and wife Christine, Gary and wife LeAnn; by brothers Paul and wife Estella, Nathan and wife Jackie; by sisters Lu Ann Kenney, Berniece Pratt, Margaret and husband Oddie Veblungsness, Marylin Hicks; also by 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Thursday morning, February 25, 1999 at 11:00 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 E., Sandy, Utah. Interment will be immediately following the service. There will be a viewing on Wednesday evening, February 24, 1999 from 7:00 to 9:00 also at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
