Floyd was a graduate of Burlington High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, seeing action in several battle s, and awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his service. He was employed at Continental Steel Corp. for more than 30 years as a crane operator. His first love was that of being a farmer. He took great pride in operating the family farm and working in his large garden. He was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and the Burlington American Legion. Floyd was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.
Floyd is survived by two sons, Edward L. Rhine and wife Patricia, and Thomas F. Rhine, all of Burlington; one daughter, Jalene A. Rhine, Kokomo; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Kiser, Rachel Schlak, Michall Rhine and Marshall Rhine; three greatgrandchildren, Quintin Rhine, Gretta Schlak and Genevieve Rhine; and three sisters, Thelma Davis, Rossville, Dorothea Robinson, Carmel, and Esther Bennett, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Elsie Emmaline Rhine and Eve Humes; and four brothers, Ted Rhine, Cecil Rhine, Walter Rhine and Ralph Rhine.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington, with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Burlington Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
