Edna Mae Freeman was born to James William (Willie) Freeman and Mary Combs, the last of seven children born to this couple: six daughters and one son. Born in Oklahoma City, OK, she married Frank Byron Rouse. They had seven children - one daughter and by six sons: Dolores (Galpren), Frank Jr., Robert, John, James, Charles, and William. The family legend (I have not found proof yet) is that Charles died young after getting ahold of a gun, falling, and died of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. In the early 1940s this whole extended family moved from Oklahoma to the California Central Valley, settling in Merced.
Edna died 27 Oct 1972 of stomach cancer, at age 74. The records say she was buried in the Garden of Flora in Merced, CA. CA Death Cert. file # 130904.
