Beatrice G. Spade, 92, Hedgesville, WV, and formerly of Hollow Road, Hancock, died Sunday, November 25, 2001, at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs.
Born May 31, 1909, in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise Hess Truax and the widow of R. Leslie Spade who died December 2, 1985. She attended the Pleasant Grove School.
She had been employed with the former Jacobs Brothers in Hancock as a seamstress and had worked for Dillon Orchards and Hepburn Orchards in Hancock. She was a Protestant.
She is survived by five daughters: Viola Weigle and Georgia DeShong, both of Hedgesville, WV; Elda Mertz, Martinsburg, WV; Nancy Shives, Bear, DE, and Phyllis Thompson, Hancock; four sons: Bernard Spade, Delmar Spade and Arlie Spade, all of Hancock; Jerald Spade, New Castle, PA; a sister, Flo Rotz, Pennsylvania; a number of grandchildren, a number of step-grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Estalene Ritz; three sons: Walter, Kenneth and James Spade.
Services were held Wednesday, November 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Rev. Steve Dawson officiated. Burial was made in the Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg.
