Private Patrick McAnulty served in the War of 1812. Pvt. McAnulty enlisted for a six month tour of duty in the U.S. Army, Pennsylvania Volunteers, Capt. John Wallace's Company, attached to the First regiment, Second detachment, Pennsylvania militia under the command of Brig. Gen. Richard Crooks. The company commenced service on 2 Oct 1812 and disbanded 2 Apr 1813. Privates had to supply their own gun, tomahawk, knife, knapsack and blanket. Pay was eight dollars a month, but troops rarely received full pay. On 26 May 1814, Pvt. McAnulty re-enlisted for a five year term as a rifleman. He retired on 31 May 1819. According to Pennsylvania records, Pvt. McAnulty is buried at St. Paul's M.E. Cemetery in Union Twp., Geigertown, PA, in section E.S., grave #1.
