Else Marie was the second child born to Niels and Oline Olesdatter Nielsen. She was born on April 5, 1886 in Gronderup, Hjorring, Denmark. She had an older brother and six younger siblings. Her older brother, Ole Christian Nielsen and two younger siblings: Anna Nielsen and Niels Christian Nielsen, came to America. Four younger siblings remained in Denmark. All of the siblings were born in Gronderup,Vrejlev, Horring, Denmark, and were Christened at the Vrejlev Kirke (Lutheran).

Else Marie arrived in New York, NY, on April 6, 1902, on the ship St. Louis. She was age 16. Her destination was Spokane-Reardon, Washington, where she was to work for her Uncle Martinus Olsen-Klitten.

When Else Marie moved to San Diego is unknown - as yet. She married Walter James Day and they settled in San Diego, California. At this time I do not know if they had any children.

Else Marie died at the age of 84, on July 15, 1970, in San Diego, California.
