Ole's parents had 8 children. The four oldest children immigrated to America, by the enlisting of their Uncle Martinus (Oline's brother). The four youngest children were raised, and have raised their families, in Denmark.
In August of 1902, the age of 18, Ole immigrated to America with his younger sister, Anna (age 14), and his Uncle Martinus Olesen-Klitten. They are listed on the ship SS Campania, sailing from Liverpool on August 2, 1902 and arriving at the Port of New York, NY on August 9, 1902. (Ancestry.com). Listed with them are Martinus Olesen, age 44, his wife Caroline Olesen, age 38, and son Carl (age 13); nieces and nephews of Caroline's family: Ludwig Peter Jensen (19), Arne Theodor Jensen (16), Anna Catrine Jensen (14). All these passages were paid by Martinus (bank president) and he was referred to as their Uncle. Anna's daughter states that Anna went to Reardon, Washington with their Uncle to work to repay her passage. Eventually, Ole joined their older sister, Else Marie Nielsen Day, in San Diego, California.
Ole Americanized the spelling of his surname from Nielsen to Nelsen. To the best of my knowledge, Ole remained single and has no direct line descendants. (Jean)
Ole died on April 16, 1941, in Los Angeles, California. He was buried in San Diego, Calif. in a cemetery plot next to Herbert Howell, the first husband of his sister, Anna.
