Benjamin Bley was born near Straussburg, Germany and went to his Heavenly Home on January 31, 1955 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 25 days.

In 1881 he came to Freeport, Illinois with his Mother and Uncle. Later he moved to Nebraska and homesteaded north of Wauneta and later moved north of Palisade.

On January 13, 1893 he was united in marriage to Jacobina Kruse in the German Baptist Church in Culbertson. To this union were born six children, one child died in infancy.

In 1917 he moved into the Eden Community where he lived until his death.

He was converted early in life accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and followed Him in baptism. He was a faithful member of the Eden Missionary Church where he served many years as a Sunday School teacher and served in other important Church offices.

He leaves to mourn his five children; Jacob of Wauneta; Adolph of Palisade; Louis, Anna, and Bertina of Stratton; six grand children and 8 great grand children; and a host of friends and neighbors. His wife, father, mother, and brothers preceded him in death.

Grandpa Bley will be sadly missed by his family, Church, and friends, but our loss is Heaven's gain.

Services were conducted February 3, 1955 by Pastor E. J. Bellells at the Eden Missionary Church. Mrs. Roy Egle, Mrs. Leland Kitt, and Ellis Carpenter accompanied by Ilo Maris sang three of Grandpa Bley's favorite songs, "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah", "Rock of Ages", and "Jesus Hold My Hand".

Christy Gauger, Sam Gauger, Frank Harvey, Ralph Hardy, Frank Maris and Ed Nowka carried Grandpa to his final resting place, Eden Cemetery.
