Conrad, the son of Conrad and Marie Elizabetha Baldt Faunce, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 7, 1817. He married Mary Lee Dunham on July 15, 1838 in the First Presbyterian Church of Kensington, Philadelphia. They moved to Washington, DC between 1843 and 1846. They had eight children; Elizabeth, Jacob, Rebecca, Helen, Lydia, Joseph, Margaret and Conrad. They lived next door to Conrad's brother George W. Faunce who was also a fisherman.

On April 27, 1889, the popular Captain Conrad Faunce died at his residence, 623 F Street. He was buried at Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC on May 1, 1889.
