Obituary from The Selma Enterprise, Selma, California, 1 Dec 1932:
AGED VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR DIES MONDAY
Edmund L. Kenoyer Succumbs at Age of 87 Here
ONLY ONE LEFT
J. T. Irwin Remains as Last Survivor of War of '65
Death took its toll among the thinning ranks of the veterans of the Civil War Monday night when Edmund L. Kenoyer, 87, died at his home at 1104 Skelton street. His death leaves only one surviving Civil War veteran in Selma, J. T. Irwin. B. F. Snyder, another civil War veteran, died here April 13 at the age of 90 years.
Mr. Kenoyer was an active member of the Grand Army of the Republic and appeared to be much younger than 87 years of age. He was the only member of the local post of the G. A. R. who was able to attend the Memorial Day ceremonies here last May and on that occasion he made a few remarks during the program in Lincoln Park.
Mr. Kenoyer was a native of Missouri, having been born in Schuyler County on March 18, 1845. At the age of 19 he enlisted in Company I of the 38th Regiment of Missouri Volunteers and served six months. He had previously been a member of the home guards.
Mr. Kenoyer came to Selma thirty-six years ago and for many years he was engaged in farming near here. He was an active member of the G. A. R. and participated in many civic and patriotic activities here.
Survivng Mr. Kenoyer are his wife, Mrs. Mary Kenoyer; one daughter, Mrs. Stella Coleman of Fresno; two sons, Harvey Kenoyer and Carl Kenoyer of Selma; two brothers, Eli Kenoyer of Iowa and Lemuel Kenoyer of Napa; and one sister, Mrs. Belle Maggard of Missouri
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the chapel of the J. L. Robinson Funeral Home. Rev. P. H. Hayley, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in the North Selma Cemetery.
