Della H. Oltmans, the daughter of John and Minnie (Meyer) Bargen, was born on May 19, 1919 on the family farm west of Cadams, Nebraska.

She passed away on August 28, 2011 at the Centennial Park Retirement Home in North Platte, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 3 months, 9 days.

Della contracted and survived Polio at the early age of 10.

She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church near Cadams, NE.

She graduated from Superior High School in 1937.

Della was united in marriage to Glenn Oltmans on March 17, 1941 in Superior, NE. and they began their life together on their farm northeast of Nelson.

To this union was born two children, Steve (Barbara) Oltmans and Dudley (Peggy) Oltmans.

Della and Glenn spent most of their life working side by side on their farm. She also worked part time at Young's Drug Store in Nelson for a period of years. Their farm was recognized as the farm of the year by the local Nuckolls County Soil and Water Conservation District in 1969 for the extensive conservation practices implemented on the farm.

In Della's younger years, she loved watching her son's sporting events and was very active in the local 4-H and Extension Clubs. She also loved planting and taking care of flowers and especially loved family gatherings, watching baseball games, and playing cards with her friends.

Della moved to North Platte, NE. in 2004 to be closer to her son, Dudley, and daughter-in-law, Peggy. She resided at Centennial Park Retirement Home until the time of her death.

She was a member of The Nelson Community United Church of Christ, PEO Chapter of Nelson, Ladies Church Circle and her weekly card club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn in 1993, her parents John and Minnie Bargen, two brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Barbara) of Omaha, NE., Dudley (Peggy) of North Platte, NE.; nine grandchildren, Curt (Lisa) Oltmans of Princeton, NJ., Brad (Stacy) Oltmans of Mesa, AZ., Todd (Colleen) Oltmans of Arvada, CO., Chris (Jaclyn) Oltmans of Chicago, Ill., Stacy (Peter) Scherr of Bellevue, NE., Molly (John) Schmidt of Omaha, NE., Ellie Oltmans (Amir Drori) of Estes Park, CO., Andy Oltmans of Colorado Springs, CO., and Craig Cox of Omaha, NE. Twelve great-grandchildren, five sisters-in-law, Corrinne Good of York, NE., Doris Andersen of Wallace, NE., Lila Oltmans of North Platte, NE., Esther Komp of Joliet, Ill., Elaine Oltmans of Nelson, NE., and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
