Irene Betty Andersen, one of seven children of John Bargen and Minnie Meyer Bargen, was born July 16, 1911, on a farm near Cadams, Nebraska, and passed away June 7, 1982, at the Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 21 days.

Irene spent her childhood days with her family on a farm near Cadams and was educated at Cadams. She has lived her entire life in the Cadams, Nora and Superior areas.
She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior.

Irene was united in marriage of Alfred Andersen. To this union one daughter, Margaret Ann, was born.

She took great pride in her home and yard. She enjoyed keeping a neat tidy home for her fmaily (sic). She also enjoyed sewing, especially her hand work.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Alfred, who died December 30, 1981; her daughter: Margaret Ann McMullen, who died November 22, 1980; and a sister, Francis.

Survivors include her son-in-law, Andrew Jack McMullen of Kearney; three sisters, Mrs. Alvin Jacobsen (Edna) of Enid, Oklahoma., Mrs. Glenn Oltmans (Della) of Nelson and Mayme Frey, Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Herman Bargen of Kansas City, Kansas, and Orval Bargen, Superior; and three grandsons, Bill, James and Jack McMullen.

Funeral services were Thursday, June 10, at 10 a.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapelin Superior, with Rev. Donald A. Ebb officiating. "He Touched Me" was sung by Francis Wilson with David Francis as organist. Pallbearers were Omar Miller, Donald Gebers, Joe Schendt, Richard Dominy, Ron Konvalin and Dennis Way. Burial was in the Shelton Cemetery, Shelton, Nebraska. Arrangements were by Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior.
