Charles Lattus

HICKMAN, Ky. -- Charles Anthony Lattus died Monday at his home in Hickman. He was 87 and a native of Hickman.


A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lattus, he was preceded in death by his wife,

Mrs. Geneva Lattus.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hickman. The Rev. Carl Glahn will officiate and burial will be in Hickman City Cemetery.


Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carol Liggett, Ithaca, N.Y., and Mrs. Lucy Strong, Hickman; two sisters, Mrs. Katie McNeill, Hickman, and Mrs. Rose Kaufman, Hickman, and four grandchildren.


He was a farmer.


Friends may call at Chaney Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. today.

Charlie Lattus, a well-known Hickman business man and farmer died at this home on Moscow Avenue around 9:15 a.m. Monday, November 9, 1981.


Lattus, former owner of Hickman Ferry and Hickman Sand and Gravel Company, was born November 2, 1894. He was the son of the late Joseph Lattus and Maggie Stahr Lattus.


Services were held Wednesday, November 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial followed in Hickman City Cemetery.


His wife, Geneva, preceded him in death. Other survivors include two daughters, Carol Liggett of Ithica, New York and Lucy Strong, Hickman; two sisters, Katie McNeill and Rose Kaufman, both of Hickman and four grandchildren.


The family has requested that any memorials be sent to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hickman.

Carrico-Lattus Marriage Solemnized Tuesday.


MAYFIELD, Ky., Oct 17 (Special) At solemn high mass at St. Jerome's church at Fancy Farm on Tuesday . Miss Geneva Carrico, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seigel Carrico, became the bride of Charles Lattus, of Hickman, Ky. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. H. Luckett in the presence of a large gathering. He was assisted by Father Spaulding and Barrett.


The altar of the church was banked with ferns and roses interspersed with white tapers In candelabra. Lohengrin's "Brlday Chorus" was played while Misses Rose Stahr and Linda Cash, nieces of the bride, strew rose petals along the bridal path to the altar.


The bride's attendants were Miss Ruth Helene Stahr, of Hickman, and Miss Isabel Cash, of Fancy Farm. The groom was attended by Joe Lattus as best man and Ernest Johnson as groomsman.


Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stahr, Mr. and Mrs. John Lattus, Mrs. Katie McNeill, James Higan, Mr. and Mrs. Elvis Stahr, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lattus, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Lattus, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Posey, the Rev Spalding, and Judge Stembridge, all of Hickman; Mrs. A. Suhre, of Louisville; Mrs. J. E. Hazel, Mrs. Ped Dowdy, and Miss Evelyn Dowdy, of Paducah; the Rev. Barrett, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Kaufman, of St Johns.

OPERATE NEW FERRY


Hickman, Ky., Aug. 30. (Special) Hickman's new ferry boat, The Mary Jo, arrived today and was put in service between Hickman and Dorena, Mo.

Charles Lattus and Raymond Mangold of the Hickman ferry company, purchasers of the new ferry went to Cairo and brought the boat back.


It was formerly in the trade at Brookport, Illinois, before the building of the Paducah-Brookport bridge. The Mary Jo has a capacity of ten cars, and is believed to be large enough to handle the business at this point.
