Samuel Noblitt was the son of Abraham and Elizabeth (Gibson) Noblitt. He was born in Illinois in 1861. He married Silestia Ella Geers in Marine, Madison County, Illinois on 7 October 1882 by Justice of the Peace John Ellison. Witnesses were Jesse P. Geers and William Persefield.

Samuel and Ella were the parents of two sons: William and Frederick Abraham Noblitt.

Samuel was killed in a coal mine accident at the McDonald Coal Mine located one mile north of Worden, Madison County, Illinois on November 29, 1884.
