Margaret TeKolste, 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, at Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, with burial following at Glendale Cemetery.

Margaret was born on February 9, 1938, in Thayer County, Nebraska to Lawrence and Margaret (Davis) Eickman. She married Larry R. TeKolste on August 20, 1960 in Chester, NE. They moved to Des Moines in 1966. Margaret graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1960 and since earned her Master of Education Degree from Drake University. She was a teacher at Ruby Van Meter School in Des Moines for 18 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Des Moines (DMEA), Iowa State (ISEA), and National (NEA) Education Associations, PEO Chapter GH, and Grace United Methodist Church. Margaret was the charter founder of the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Support Group in Des Moines.

Margaret loved her family and friends and will be missed by many including her husband of 51 years, Larry TeKolste; daughter, Ronda (Dan) Morrett of Chariton and their children, Scott, Joseph, and Benjamin; son, Rob (Kari) TeKolste of Harrisburg, SD, and their children Erin and Jenna; and son, Rick (Teresa) TeKolste of Altoona and their children Colton, Logan and Devon; brothers, Milton Eickman of Hebron, NE and Wayne (Betty) Corbit of Stromsburg, NE; sisters, Ruth Eickman of Lincoln, NE and Betty (Paul) Bradford of Mesa, AZ; brothers-in-law, Virgil Canning of Seward, NE, and Melvin D. TeKolste (Eilene) of Beatrice, NE; sisters-in-law, Donna Eickman of Belleville, KS; Gweneth Eickman of Lincoln, NE; and Shirley TenHulzen (Paul) of Firth, NE; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Randall Ray; step-mother, Ruth M. Eickman; and brothers, Don, Dale, Warren, and Neal; and sister, Ruth Canning.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, August 26, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
