Milton Charles (Charlie) Eickman of Hebron, NE the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Davis) Eickman was born September 27, 1926 on a farm in Republic County Kansas near Chester, NE. He departed this life Tuesday October 4, 2016 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 90 years.

Charlie grew up in the Chester area attending country school and graduating from Chester High School class of 1944. He was baptized at an early age into the Chester, NE Methodist Church.

Charlie married Reuberta M. Corliss on June 27, 1947 at her parents Reuben Corliss Farm outside of Hebron, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of eight children. He enjoyed being out in God’s creation. He and Reuberta were busy on the farm, milking cows, farming, raising cattle & hogs, having an apple orchard, gardening and of course raising a large family. Charlie was active on the Hebron Public School Board for 10 years and served as president during that time. He was elected a Thayer County Commissioner, a member of the First Community Church formerly First Christian Church in Hebron, Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging, and a strong supporter of the Hebron Senior Center, Thayer County Museum and Thayer County Health Services. Charlie enjoyed square dancing in the Curley Que Square Dance Club, playing cards, delivering meals on wheels, but most of all spending time with his family especially the grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Step-Mother Ruth Corbit Eickman, his wife Reuberta, brothers; Don, Dale, Warren, Neal Eickman and step-brother Elmer Wayne Corbit, sisters Ruth Eickman and Marge TeKolste, stepsister Ruth Elaine Corbit Canning, sisters-in-law Nellie, Betty June and Donna Eickman, brothers-in-law Dick Casselman and Paul Bradford.

He is survived by his sons; Mike and wife Kay of Hebron, NE, and Tom and wife Gloria of Deshler, NE, daughters; Janice Denton and husband Jerry of Pace, FL, Sharon Wilken and husband Steve of Lincoln, NE, Kris Miesner and husband Mark of Deshler, NE, Elizabeth Eickman and husband Marvin Quinn of Oklahoma City, OK, Roxanne Rowley and husband Don of Grand Island, NE, and Kim Stapleton and husband John of Oklahoma City, OK, 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, stepsister Betty Casselman Bradford and brothers-in-law Virgil Canning and Larry TeKolste, sister-in-laws Betty June Corbit, Gweneth Eickman, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Following Charlie’s wishes his body was donated as an anatomical gift to the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the First Community Church in Hebron. Officiant will be Pastor Steve Speichinger, organist Judy Kassebaum, congregational hymns “Holy, Holy, Holy”, “Glory To God” and “Amazing Grace”.

No visitation, condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com, memorial in lieu of flowers to the family to be designated at a later date.
