Inez Childers Grady, 89, of Winfield passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington.
Born December 2, 1921, in Robinson, Boone County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Esta Drummond Welch. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 46 years, Leonard H. Childers; and their beloved sons, Dwight D. and L. Keith Childers; as well as her second husband, Boyd Grady.
Inez accepted Christ as her personal Savior 76 years ago and has been an active member of Judson Baptist Church, Winfield, for many years, working with the kindergarten class when it was held in the basement of the parsonage. She and her late husband, Leonard, operated a quaint log cabin grocery store at the end of Bills Creek Road for many years and one of her favorite hobbies was volunteering at Thomas Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed quilting.
Surviving are her sister, Barbara Russell of Gallipolis, Ohio; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, August 21, at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, with the Rev. Fred McCallister officiating. Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
