Leonard Keith Childers
Leonard Keith Childers, 63, of Scott Depot went home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2011, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington.
Born March 17, 1948, in St. Albans, Keith was a son of Inez Welch Childers Grady of Hurricane and the late Leonard H. Childers.

Keith was retired after 40 years' service as a teacher in the Putnam County school system and was retired as a staff sergeant with 22 years of service from the 111th Engineer Group, U.S. Army National Guard.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Leigh Dean Childers; son, Stephen Keith Childers of Scott Depot; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Debbie Childers and Joyce and Larry Grimes; aunts Estelle Bell and Barbara Russell; six nephews and two nieces.

Funeral service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with the Rev. Paul Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the Rev. Paul Smith for his support and kindness and the doctors and nurses at St. Mary's for their exceptional care.
