Mrs. Helen Grace Varner, 86, of 532 Grandview avenue, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at her home following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Varner was born in Zanesville Oct. 22, 1885, a daughter of Harry and Anna Wallar Stenger. She was a life member of Market Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was also a member of the Brighton Child Conservation League.
Surviving are two sons, George of the home and Donald of Hanover, Mass.; a daughter, Miss Helen Louise Varner of the home; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Harley E. Varner died July 24, 1939 and two brothers, Berne and Harry Stenger and a sister, Mrs. Maie Ellis are deceased.
The body was taken to the Blue Avenue chapel of Bolin Funeral Home where friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
