BELIEVE A BLOOD CLOT CAUSED THE DEATH OF HOWARD LEE MARKHAM

That Howard Lee Markham, the Fair Oaks youth who died last Sunday evening after a very brief illness, died from a blood clot on the brain, is the belief of many who are familiar with the case. Just what caused the lad's death will probably never be known. The physician who was called in attendance noted that the boy had some of the symptoms of infantile paralysis. However, he was called too late to complete a diagnosis for death was speedy. It has been stated, however, that many of the symptoms of infantile paralysis were missing.

After the death of the Markham boy, it became known that he was occidently struck over the head with a hockey stick last week while at play at the playgrounds. The boy went home crying. The affair seemed a trivial one, however, and was soon forgotten. He did not complain of pains in the head when taken ill. His temperature was below normal, the father states. The boy was taken ill Friday afternoon and died Sunday.

Howard Markham was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Markham, residing at 714 Fair Oaks Avenue.
