NELLIE M. MARKHAM
Mrs. Nellie Myrtle Markham, 89, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reta Ann Osborn, of 8891 Skyway, Paradise.
Born in Butte Meadows July 5, 1870, she was the daughter of Merritt and Francis Miller. She was raised and educated in the Lowery District west of Red Bluff in Tehama County. In July of 1887 she married Warren David Markham. They lived in the Lowery District engaging in ranching. They moved to Chico in 1905. The early-day pioneer family lived in various parts of Northern California. Mrs. Markham had lived with her daughter for the past two years in Paradise. Mr. Markham died in 1943.
Survivors besides Mrs. Osborn include two other daughters, Mrs. Lena Harmon and Mrs. Roberta Pierson, both of Redding; three sons, Raymond Markham of Red Bluff; Stanley Markham of Anderson and Warren Markham, of Wolford Heights; a sister, Mrs. Marian Clapp, of Chico and a brother, Warren Miller, of Flournoy, 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted in the Case-Timmons-Van Hook Funeral Chapel, Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Moore, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will follow the services in the Chico Cemetery.
