Leonard Percival "L.P." Lewis, Sr. is the son of William Edward Lewis (1836 AL - 1872 AL) and Melvina "Vina" "Vine" "Mattie" (Lewis) Lewis Davis Stormes (Sept. 1850 AL - Bet. 1911-1923).

He was born on Brindlee/Brindley Mountain, in Alabama, and he talked about Brindlee/Brindley Mountain and Morgan City, Morgan Co., Alabama many times through out his life time and he told his Children and Grandchildren that he was born on Brindlee /Brindley Mountain. This Mountain is a portion of the Appalachian plateau in Northern AL. It occupies significant portions of Cullman, Morgan, and Marshall Counties and extends into Winston and Lawrence Counties. While we assume he was born in the Marshall County portion, his love for Morgan City through out his life time, and his frequent visits there to relax in its springs, may have been an indication that it was that portion of the Mountain area where he was born.

Leonard Percival "L.P." Lewis, Sr. was a veteran of the Merchandising Business and was a young member of "Lewis Brothers Firm" of Marshall County, AL.

He owned "Guntersville Dry Goods Company", a Merchandising Store, and "L. P.'s Dry Goods Supply", and "Farrows Boarding House" all in Guntersville, Marshall Co., AL, "Lewis Salvage Company", a Stock Supplier/auction/ and Business/Sale Promoter and Ad Writer business, in Jefferson Co., AL, "House of Bargains", a merchandising store, "L. P.'s Dry Goods", and "Lewis Ten Cent Company", all in Attalla, Etowah Co., AL. He and wife, Alice, also had management of "Lake Rhea", a popular swimming & Picnic location in Attalla, Etowah Co., AL and surrounding areas. He had the "Buster Brown Shoe Store", and "Phoenix Hotel", both in Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL, "The Lewis Store", in Columbia, Houston Co., AL and he worked from his early days in Marshall Co., AL and through his years in Jefferson Co. and Houston Co., AL as a Business/Sale Promoter and Ad Writer. Up until his death, and while he was still able to, he still operated the store he owned, "The Lewis Store" in downtown Columbia, Houston Co., AL.

He was known by most as L. P. Lewis and by the affection nickname of "Buddy" only by his family members and cousins.

Leonard Percival "L.P." Lewis, Sr. married Miss Alice Georgia McDonald on Feb. 21, 1894 in Henryville/Columbus City, Marshall Co., and they had seven children together by their marriage:

(1.) Grace Beatrice Lewis (1894 AL -1976 AL)
(2.) Alston Roscoe Lewis, Sr. (1896 AL -1935 ILL)
(3.) Lucien Gilman Lewis, Sr. (1899 AL -1933 AL)
(4.) Everett Hancel Lewis (1902 AL -1969 FL)
(5.) Iris Jewell Lewis (1904 AL -1986 FL)
(6.) Leonard Percival Lewis, Jr. (1909 AL -1960)
(7.) Alice Emily Lewis (1912 AL -2010 AL)

After, Alice Georgia (McDonald) Lewis passed away on May 25, 1942, Leonard Percival "L.P." Lewis, Sr. was introduced to Lee Mae (MNU) Enoch, by his daughter, Alice Emily (Lewis) McEntyre (1912 AL - 2010 AL). Alice Emily (Lewis) McEntyre and her husband, Thaddeus "Thad" Pope McEntyre were living in Tampa, FL at that time and Lee Mae (MNU) Enoch, who was a widow, was one of their neighbors. Leonard Percival "L.P." Lewis, Sr. married Lee Mae (MNU) Enoch on June 24, 1945 in Tampa, Hillsborough Co., FL. All the members of our family called her "Mama Lee". They were an elderly couple and did not have any children together by their marriage.
