Everett Hancel Lewis was a Football Player in High School and he was a football Champ. He was pictured in the Gadsden Times newspaper-Heading-Football Champs of 1919 - 1922.

Everett Hancel Lewis married Velma Beatrice Copeland on Nov. 20, 1925, in Etowah County, Alabama, and they had one child together by their marriage:

(1.) Sarah Alice Lewis (July 07, 1926 AL - Oct. 14, 1986 FL), she married Thomas "Tom" Farmer Grice (Jan. 19, 1924 AL - June 04, 1995 FL).

Everett Hancel Lewis and Velma Beatrice Copeland Lewis and their daughter, Sarah Alice Lewis lived in Etowah County, Alabama until late 1927 early 1928, and Everett worked with his Brother, Lucien, as an Electrician in Etowah County, Alabama.

In late 1927-early 1928 Everett Hancel Lewis moved his family to Dallas, Texas. Everett began as an apprentice meat cutter for the Piggly Wiggly Store in Dallas, Texas and moved up to Meat Cutter for the Piggly Wiggly Store in Dallas, Texas and was later promoted to the Manager of the Meat Department at the Piggly Wiggly Store in Dallas, TX.

Everett also worked for two different Bread Companies as a Bread Salesman, in either Dallas, Texas or in Alabama.

They moved back to Alabama, prior to the "1940's" and when the 1940 census was taken, they were living in Columbus, Houston County, Alabama, and Everett was working as a Clerk in a General Merchandising Store.

By the mid "1940's- early 1950's, Everett Hancel Lewis and Velma Beatrice Copeland Lewis opened "Lewis Grocery & Market" store in Panama City Beach, Bay Co., FL and they were the owners/operators of "Lewis Grocery & Market" store until "1958-1959, when they purchased the "Circle Court Motel", in Panama City Beach, Bay County, FL. Their home was located at the same location as their Motel.

They owned and operated the "Circle Court Motel" until Everett Hancel Lewis passed away and then the Motel was turned over to their daughter, Sarah Alice Lewis Grice.
