He was the son of John Louis 'Jack' (1879-1952) and Susan Leona 'Leo' Young (1884-1932) Akard Sr.

He lived at 108 S Ritter in 1932. He was a switchman at Indiana Bell Telephone Co.

Their children: John Thomas Akard and Paul Richard Akard (1939-2001).

He lived at 7335 Harcourt Rd on 18 Mar 1967.

Jack was a supervisor at Indiana Bell Telephone Company with 42 years service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and cofounder and first treasurer of the Bell Conservation Club.

He died at age 59 years 5 months 7 days.
