VENA HUMPHRIES DIES WEDNESDAY AT ALEXANDRIA

Alexandria, Oct. 21 – Mrs. Vena Humphries, age 75, died at her home, 160 West Third Street, at 3pm Wednesday, following a two year illness. Born in Kentucky, the daughter of William and Amanda (Kirk) Maddox on Feb. 21, 1868, she was married to James Humphries in 1901. Mr. Humphries died in 1927. She had resided in this community the past 41 years and was a member of the Vermillion Christina Church, southeast of the city. The body was brought to the Roger C. Cipe funeral home to await fneral arrangements.

The surviving relatives include: one son Belt Humphries, of R.F.D. 2, Middletown, and three grandchildren, Sarah, Mary Ellen and John Paul Humphries, of this city; three step-sons, William Humphries, Alexandria; James C. Humphries, RFD 1, Alexandria; Claude Humphries, Linwood; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary Gahimer, RFD 3, Alexandria; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Jones and Mrs. Martha Scott, of Anderson; four brothers, Matthew Maddox, Lexington, Ky.; Ruben Maddox, Anderson; Nelson Maddox, Chesterfield, and Emory Maddox, Dayton, OH.
