Mr. Virgil Henry Burns, age 77, of Vidalia died last Thursday in Meadows Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.

A native of Johnson County, Mr. Burns had resided in Vidalia for the past 12 years.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lila Williamson Burns of Vidalia; four daughters, Mrs. M.A. Braddy of Soperton, Mrs. G.C. Galbreath of Lyons, Mrs. Hiram Galbreath and Mrs. James A. Thompson, both of Vidalia; one son, Bobby Burns of Ft. Pierce, Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Hammock of Vidalia, Mrs. Ray Owen of Vero Beach, Florida and Mrs. Sallie Turner of Baxley; two brothers, Richard Burns of Dublin and Tom Burns of Ft. Gaines; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Burns were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Street Baptist Church, with Reverend Bill Bodiford officiating. Interment was in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Serving as active pallbearers were Randy Sumner, Donald Galbreath, Drexel Braddy, Larry Braddy, Dale Galbreath, and Jack Burns, Jr.

Murchison Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
