She was born in Wellington, Ohio, to Floyd and Elma (Shipman) Smith. She married Elbert L. Emery on October 22, 1942, they divorced January 23, 1963. She married Frederick Cutts on November 23, 1963, they divorced May 9, 1968. She then married Clarence "Bob" Benson on Dec. 31, 1971 until his death August 15, 1982.
Mrs. Benson retired in 1989 as front desk clerk at the Pioneer Inn in Reno, Nev. At the time of her retirement, she was the first person in the company's 22-year history to have 20 years of service.
Surviving are daughter Barbara Emery Lee of Findlay, sons Lawrence (Larry) Emery of Green Springs and Richard (Rick) Emery of Horton, Mich., six grandchildren, four great-grandsons and her companion of 12 years, James T. Catchings, of Corpus Christi, Texas.
She is preceded in death by half sisters Eudora (Burrows) Sees, Alice (Burrows) Adams and Juanita (Smith) Collison and sisters Florence (Smith) Mizen and Marjorie (Smith) Small Rogers.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Green Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor James Scott officiating.
