Howard was an electrician in Stark County and installed electricity in many area homes including his father's old log house. He married Cora Greenwald in 1914 and they had three children in Alliance, Ohio. Cora died suddenly in 1929 from appendicitis and Howard joined her three years later, officially from pneumonia but really, it is said, from a broken heart.
