Oliver was a farmer who married Amanda Manuel. They had six children, all of whom remained in the area. The family lived in the "Old Log House" directly across State Street from St. Jacob's cemetery and several family members were born there. The house continued to be family owned and was the site of the 2004 "Jehu Grubb Family Reunion", with well over 100 attendees.
