Lewis, a son of Howard and Cora Grubb, was an electrician in Alliance, Ohio, who worked for Hopkins Vulcanic Co. before retiring from Alliance Drop Forge. He was also a deputy of the Ohio State Grange for at least 25 years and was very active in giving Grange inspections and overseeing many Grange functions. Lewis was the first Fire Chief of the Lexington Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.
In 1936, he married Opal Martin and they had four children, Eugene, Virgil, Dale and Loretta. Lewis and Opal hosted many well-attended Grubb family reunions in the 1960's.
