A VETERAN CALLED
Old Soldier Answers Final Roll Call after Years of Patient Suffering
Frank Gilbert Passes Away Near Close of Old Year--Leaves Large Family

Death won a victory over another old veteran at the beginning of the last day of the old year, when the spirit of Frank Gilbert was beckoned to the great beyond from his home at 433 Beech street. In the death of Mr. Gilbert the great example of patience has been brought before his friends, for during the past few years he had been a patient sufferer with cancer of the face.

Deceased was a member of Robt. Anderson Post, G.A.R. having served his country faithfully during the time when his services were most needed. At the time of his death he was in his 73rd year being born in been a resident of the county practically all his life, coming here when a child with his parents. The past eight years of his life were spent in Waterloo. Besides his wife there are six children left to mourn his death. They are Seth, Edward, and Joseph Gilbert, Mrs. Claude Lichty, Mrs. Frances Harden, Mrs. Katherine Brooks all of this locality, and one other brother, Edward Gilbert, residing at Plainfield, Ill.

The time for the funeral has not been set, but services will probably be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Universalist church. Rev. Effie McCullom Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview.
