Anthony A. "Tony" Blickhan, age 91, of 1537 Cherry St., died on Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Springfield, IL at Lewis Memorial Nursing Home. He was born on December 1, 1919 in Monroe City, MO the son of Matthew & Clara (Wolf) Blickhan. He married Lucille Hildebrand on February 5, 1946 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2009. Mr. Blickhan worked for the Bueter Baking Company and later the Holsum Baking Company as head mechanic in their Fleet Maintenance from January of 1951 until his retirement in June of 1982.
Mr. Blickhan served in the Army Air Corps from November 1941 to December 1945. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church where he was active in the Holy Name Society of the church and served as an Eucharistic Minister. Tony was also a member of the Secular Franciscans, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. Tony was an avid fisherman, hunter, and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Tony is survived by: FIVE CHILDREN: Jane Schutte and her husband David of Greer, SC; Darlene Logsdon of Western Springs, IL; Ron Blickhan and his wife Jane of Springfield, IL; Kay Mighell and her husband Greg of Geneseo, IL; and Carol Bergman and her husband Ted of St. Louis.
FOURTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Craig Schutte and his wife Sarah, Stacey Thomas and her husband Van, Matt Logsdon, Tony Logsdon, Sarah Brown and her husband Jeremy; Julie Nash and her husband Steve, John Blickhan, Jacob Blickhan, Cody Mighell, Travis Mighell, Taylor Mighell, Joshua Bergman, Jessica Bergman and Samuel Bergman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 9:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #37 and the Illinois National Guard Military Honors Detail. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a parish prayer service at 4:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus service to follow. Memorials may be made to Quincy Notre Dame, St. Francis Catholic Church or to the Knights of Columbus TV Mass for Shut-Ins.
