Martha A. Koetters, age 100, of Quincy died Friday, May 5, 2023 in Sunset Home.
She was born March 24, 1923 , in Indian Creek, MO to Matthew and Clara (Wolf) Blickhan.
She married Paul Koetters on January 7, 1950, in St. Francis Church and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2004.

Martha graduated St. Stephen High School in Indian Creek, MO in 1941. She had worked at Ely Walker prior to her marriage. Martha was a devout Catholic. She was a long-time member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Mendon where she had taught religion classes and was a member of the St. Edward Altar Society. In 2016 she was honored to receive Our Lady of Good Counsel "Women of Distinction Award" in appreciation for her leadership and service to Church and Community. She volunteered at the Quincy Senior Center.

She enjoyed sewing, canning, gardening, flowers, and baking. Martha was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother.

Survivors include her children, Katie (Gary) Schreacke of Payson, Gerald (Peggy) Koetters of Coatsburg, Theresa Bolt of Quincy, and Clara (Maurice) Schmidt of Clayton. 2 sisters-in-law Virginia Blickhan and Mary Monckton Blickhan.

15 Grandchildren: Erin(Jason) Perry, Sara (Mike) Zehnle, Adam (Laken) Schreacke, Andy (Lorraine) Schreacke. Lucy (Ty) Crain, Matthew (Michelle) Koetters, Nathan (Ashley) Koetters, Nicholas (Kelly) Koetters, Brittany (Justin) Hutchings. Megan (Brian) Cramsey, Heidi (Casey) Spears, Abby Bolt, Jacob (Alicia) Schmidt, Carrie (Josh) Potter and Amanda (Brad) Genenbacher.

33 Great-grandchildren: Livia and Aidan Perry, Ransom, Raulin, and Reed Zehnle, Beckett, Breslyn,
and Bostyn Schreacke, Daniel Schreacke, Nillana Tano, Jackson and Carson Crain, Paul, Noah, Luke, Henry, and Garrett Koetters, Kennedy Koetters, Dominic and Parker Hutchings, Connor and Ava Cramsey, Parker and Nolan Spears, Addiley, Alivia, Andi and Blaze Schmidt, Owen and Grace Potter, Tinley, Reagan and Londyn Genenbacher and 2 more great-grandchildren due this summer.

Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son-in-law Kevin Bolt, her brothers, Howard, Joseph, Anthony, Robert, Delbert, and Leo Blickhan. Her sisters, Elsie Hildebrand, Mary Mock, Hilda Blickhan, and a sister in infancy.

Martha's family extends their gratitude to her caregivers at Sunset Home for all of the kindness shown their beloved mom, grandmother and great-grand mother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Mendon, IL. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh, with a rosary at 3:15 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Edward Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus Mass for Shut-Ins or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
