Funeral services for Blanche Baldwin Gardner will bye held in the Thayne Stake Center on Saturday, March 7, at 12 noon.
There will be a viewing at Schwab Mortuary Friday evening form 7-8 and again on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Afton Cemetery.
Blanche Baldwin Gardner, 83, died March 3, 1992 in Brigham City Utah at the home of her daughter.
She was born Aug 4, 1908 in Smoot, to Parley Pratt and Stella Taggart Baldwin.
She married Newel A. Gardner, July 12, 1928 in Paris, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They spent 55 happy tears together before Newell died on July 11, 1983.
She was educated in Afton schools and attended the University of Utah. She taught school in Fairview. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in the Primary, Sunday School and MIA organizations. She was also active in 4-H.
Blanche worked with Newell in his work with the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission for 37 years. during this time she raised orphan baby beaver, deer and buffalo and assisted Newel on all of his game warden responsibilities and was instrumental in coordinating the annual Elk Ride. In their retirement years, they made a beautiful home they called Valhalla in the Narrows of Salt River, where they enjoyed the peace and beauty of the natural surroundings, entertaining family and friends and where their grandchildren lived with them every summer to help keep them young. They were well known for their western hospitality and their reputation as pit barbecue chefs. Their love for nature and wildlife was the subject of many newspaper and magazine articles.
Surviving are her daughter Mrs Benjamin (Patsy) Boyce of Brigham City, four grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers; Ruby Christensen of Rockville, UT; Douglas Baldwin of Kaysville, UT; Melvin Baldwin of Evanston WY; Nellie Averett of Bellevue WA; Helen Dickie of Severna Park MD; Don Baldwin of Gulf Breeze FL; and Hermoine Peterson of Denver CO.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and a great grandson.
