Emil Joseph Bernasek, son of Cyrill Bernasek and Marie Andel Bernasek, was born on a farm three miles west of Milligan, Neb., April 9, 1906. He passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital at Geneva, Neb., November 15, 1968, at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 6 days.

He attended Chelsea elementary school and Milligan high school. He was engaged in farming in Chelsea Township his entire life, an occupation he greatly loved.

Jun 1, 1927, he was united in marriage to Rose Sieber of Ohiowa, Neb. To this union were born three daughters, Carol Raye, Carolyn Jane and Kathryn Chere; and one son, Rodney Allen.

Emil became a member of the Chelsea Evangelical United Brethren Church in his youth, and later became a member of Hope United Methodist Church of Geneva. His primary concern was rearing his children in a Christian manner.

Emil was a kind and loving husband and father, who was devoted to his family. He was a man of many talents, being industrious and diligent with a great zest for living. He enjoyed a well rounded life, gained success in his occupation and made many lasting friendships.

His favorite pastime was music and he played in many bands. His other various interests included hunting and fishing.

Preceding him in death were his infant daughter, Carol Raye, his parents, and infant brother and sister; and another sister, Mary Bernasek Sluka.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; son, Rodney A. Bernasek of Denver, Col.; daughters, Carolyn J. Erickson of Denver, and Kathryn C. Bernasek, student at the University of Nebraska; a daughter-in-law, Karen Hansen Bernasek of Denver; son-in-law, Ernest J. Erickson of Denver; two brothers James and Cyril M. of Geneva; a sister, Mrs. Abbbie Fujan of Milligan; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Services were held at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m. Monday, November 18, with Rev. Paul Walker officiating. Interment was at the Bohemian National Cemetery at Milligan.

Many relatives and friends attended the services from every town in Fillmore county; also Grand Island, Crete, Wilber, Tobias, York, Bruning, Union, Lincoln, Pickrell, Elmwood, Nelson, Scottsbluff, Sutton, Fairbury and Carleton, Neb., Salina, Ellsworth, Lindsborg, and Bennington, Kas.; Denver, Col, Dallas, Tex.; and Hollywood, Cal.
